Marcus Semien will not be back with the Toronto Blue Jays as he has reportedly agreed to a seven-year, $ 175 million pact with the Texas Rangers.

At least that’s what many media, including ESPN, reported on Sunday. However, Arlington’s organization has yet to confirm anything. Originally from San Francisco, he is approaching his hometown, he who played for six seasons with the Oakland Athletics.

Semien was without a doubt one of the big stars of the last season in major league baseball. He hit 45 home runs, which is a new mark for a player playing in second base.

The 31-year-old American averaged .265 batting, otherwise winning the Silver Stick to his American League position. He also got his hands on the Golden Glove and finished third for the MVP title.

Semien was playing his first season in 2021 with the Canadian team, which offered him a one-year contract worth $ 18 million in January.
