Linares sacrificed himself and left Sharks on the ground

With a sacrifice bunt, helped by defensive mistakes, the Lara Cardinals left the La Guaira Sharks on the ground with a score of 6-5.

The Littoralenses dominated the entire match with Danry Vásquez and Juan Fernández leading the team’s offense.

But the twilight reaction came in the eighth inning with a 4-race rally to even the score at 5.

Shane Greene came out to pitch the ninth and retired it allowing only one walk, to later become the winning pitcher of the match.

A sacrifice bunt by Yordanys Linares, to advance the second and first runners, defined the commitment, when pitcher Luis Guzmán badly executed the pitch to third and Manuel Meléndez scored the winning shot.

In this way, the salty ones fell for the second day in a row while the red birds closed undefeated the weekend.
