Latvian bobsleighers receive the long-awaited sleigh a few days before the World Cup season / Article

The sledges were transported to the competition site in Innsbruck on Tuesday and the pilot Oskars Ķibermanis has already managed to complete three official training rides with a crew of two.

The Latvian team spent most of October in China, where they tested the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games track. The team returned home at the end of October, but the sledges had not yet been sent to Latvia.

The 2021/2022 World Cup season will start in Innsbruck this weekend. The first matches for bobsleighers will be on Saturday, but training runs are already planned for Tuesday and Thursday.

Ķibermanis will start in the World Cup with his usual pushers Matīss Mikni, Dāvis Spriņģis and Kristu Lindenblat.

The first two stages of the World Cup season will take place in the last two weekends of November in Innsbruck, Austria, after which the athletes will measure in Altenberg, Germany.

There will be two more stages in Germany: Winterberg and Altenberg. The week from December 20 to 26 will be free, but then the athletes will go to Sigulda, where they will look forward to 2022 in the atmosphere of the competition.

Another stage in Winterberg is scheduled for next weekend, but the World Cup will end on January 10-16, when the eighth stage, which will be the European Championship, will take place in St. Moritz, Switzerland. After the last stage, the qualification for the Beijing Olympic Games, where bobsleigh and skeleton competitions are scheduled for February 10-20, will end.

It is planned that Sigulda will also host the Intercontinental Cup Skeleton and the European Cup Skeleton on the second weekend of December.
