Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon failed to win the French Open title after being defeated by the South Korean pair Ko Sung-hyun/Shin Baek-cheol. The Minions’ power has run out.
Kevin/Marcus became the last hope from Indonesia to be able to win the title at the French Open 2021. The Minions advanced to the final after defeating their compatriots, Fajar/Rian.
Unfortunately, Kevin/Marcus lost in straight sets to Ko Sung-hyun/Shin Baek-cheol with a score of 17-21, 20-22.
Ko Sung-hyun/Shin Baek-cheol were able to dominate the game in two gyms. They were able to maintain the lead, even in the second gym Kevin/Marcus managed to give a tight match.
The coach of the men’s doubles team, Herry IP, explained that the Minions’ power had run out. Because, they are both constantly participating in the competition.
“Kevin/Marcus’ energy is gone. They’ve been competing for 6 weeks nonstop,” he explained in the statement received detikSport.
“Focus and concentration have decreased, foot movements are no longer fast, hand power has decreased, when in the semifinals against Fajar / Rian top form-his. Last night, the finals were already down, Korea was still fresh new power,” he continued.
