Kevin Durant has spoken highly of top pick Cade Cunningham. Despite the poor start of the Pistons-Guard, KD predicts a great future for the youngster.
“I love Cade’s game,” said Durant after the Nets’ narrow win in Detroit (96:90). “I believe he will be a big problem for opposing defenses for a long, long time.” The Nets star has known Cunningham since high school and wishes the 20-year-old all the best.
“I’m happy for him and I’m excited to see how his career will develop.” The start was anything but easy for Cunningham, due to an ankle injury, the top pick from the 2021 draft missed the entire preseason and only got into the game a week ago.
Against the Nets, Cunningham made his best game to date and put on 17 points and 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. Especially the three fell better (3/7) after the Guard had sunk only one of his first 21 attempts.
In the fourth quarter, Cunningham scored 8 points and led the Pistons back to a point with a clutch threesome two minutes from timebefore Durant put the lid on it with three buckets. In four games so far, Cunningham has put on 10.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists, but only hit 23 percent from the field and 14 percent from the triple line.
