The Olympic champion was the victim of violence last weekend from her companion and ex-trainer Alain Schmitt.

Gold medalist last summer at the Tokyo Olympics, judoka Margaux Pinot was the victim of violence from her companion and ex-trainer Alain Schmitt, former member of the France team.

The facts took place during the night of Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 November.

“Girls who are going to smash you on the tatami”

According to the champion’s words, to which RMC Sports was able to have access, the violence took place in Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis), a town in which Margaux Pinot and Alain Schmitt each occupy a house, their relationship not being public knowledge.

On the evening of Saturday, November 27, Alain Schmitt went to Margaux Pinot and a heated discussion began about the future: Schmitt was indeed preparing to leave France for Israel, a country must he must train the women’s selection. “I’m going to make machines out of them. Girls who are going to smash you on the tatami” would have launched Alain Schmitt to Margaux Pinot.

The heated discussion then turns into a violent argument: Margaux Pinot finds herself pulled out of bed, Alain Schmitt then throwing her several punches in the face. The young woman not allowing herself to be fooled, the minutes consulted by RMC thus evoke a “judo-type ground fight with techniques of control without any blow being struck”.

Wounded, Margaux Pinot manages to flee and take refuge with a neighbor who will call the police. Alain Schmitt was arrested around 2:30 am, Sunday, November 28, before being taken into police custody.
