Judo – Perchtoldsdorf Tigers have to be content with silver

The series ends at seven. The Galaxy Judo Tigers from Perchtoldsdorf have been undefeated in the domestic Bundesliga since 2013. The longest winning streak in league history came to an end on Saturday. In the final, the Lower Austrians were defeated by Multikraft Wels 6: 8. For the Upper Austrians it is the first championship title in 44 years.

Welser start furiously

First of all, the two finalists celebrated clear victories in the first round of the Final Four in the Gmunder Volksbankarena. The Tigers eliminated Pinzgau 11: 3. Wels defeated Sanjindo 10-4. The final battle began with a Waza-Ari victory for Tornike Tsjkadoea. It was to remain the Tigers’ sole leadership.

Mathias Czizsek was thrown onto the mat by Akil Gjakova as well as Ippon, as was Christopher Wagner by Olympic bronze medalist Shamil Borchasvili. Tatsuto Shima, Johannes Pacher and Marko Bubanja, however, lost their fights because of the third Shido (penalty, the fight is over for the third).

Tigers fight each other

Wels suddenly led 5-1. There were only three points missing from the title. Movli Borchasvilli – cousin of the three Wels Borchasvili brothers – kept the mini-chance alive with an Ippon victory. After the first round it was 2: 5 from Perchtoldsdorf’s point of view. Tsjkadoea (Waza-Ari) and Shima (Shido) shortened to 4: 5 at the beginning of the rematches. It was exciting again.

Czizsek then delivered an even fight to Gjakova. The Welser prevailed with 2: 3 Shidos. The Upper Austrians were back on track. Shamil Borchasvili threw Perchtoldsdorf’s Bernd Fasching Ippon and brother Wachid also ended his fight against Pacher prematurely.

Bubanja with exclamation mark

Wachid Borchasvili ran to the supervisor’s bench cheering. The Wels championship title was wrapped up. Tigers fighter Bubanja provided a real highlight in the penultimate fight. He won an Ippon against Varlam Liparteliani from Wels (three-time world champion, three-time European champion and Olympic silver medalist). Movli Borchasvilli produced the 6-8 final score.

“Every series comes to an end. I congratulate Wels, they are doing a great job,” said Tigers mastermind Thomas Haasmann as a fair loser: “We have a team in the background where everyone is born in 2000 or younger the Südstadt and in the club an incredible talent factory. They are all in the starting blocks. We will attack again. “
