Judo: 2 Sienese at the U21 national finals in Ostia

SIENA. Under 21 national judo finals in Ostia. CIS Siena was present with two under 18s who, having won the medal at the 2021 national finals, had removed the pass for this race. Tobia Grazzini and Giulio Muzzi defended the Cussini colors in the -55 kg category.

The first to get on the mat was Tobia Grazzini who fought out of the category since there is no -50 kg category in the under 21s, so he gave almost 5 kg to his opponents. In the preliminary rounds he found Audisio from Turin, Grazzini controlled the match but then he gave up mainly due to the physical gap. Unfortunately, Grazzini’s under-21 adventure ends here. After him Giulio Muzzi went down on the tatami and meets the Ligurian Saglietto, judoka with more experience than cold Cussino with a wazari in the first seconds, Muzzi does not lose heart and manages to bring the match home with determination. In the next match he meets the Lombard avella, who is also older, Muzzi is ahead of the opponent until the middle of the match, then the Lombard increases the pace and draws the match, the cussino taken by the enthusiasm to close the race turns out and unfortunately lose. Too bad because with a little more experience Muzzi could access the semifinal. Also for him the under 21 adventure is shattered in the round of 16. Even if the two Sienese athletes stopped before the final stages, their coaches Simone Cresti and Gianni Colombini can be proud for two guys who are committed and who have put themselves to the test with older athletes.
