JC 66 Bottrop: Lilly Büssemeyer wins in Herne

At national sighting tournaments in Herne and Holzwickede, the talents of JC 66 Bottrop impressed with good performances and podium places.

At national sighting tournaments in Herne and Holzwickede, talents from JC 66 Bottrop were able to secure a number of medals. However, it was noticeable to some Bottropers that the exhausting season has left its mark.

The U17 age group started in Herne. Here Lilly Büssemeyer was able to assert herself in the weight class up to 63 kg and took first place after four early victories. In the boys’ heavyweight division, Justus Galla also won a place on the podium. He finished third. After winning a fight in the main round, he only had to admit defeat in the golden score after nine minutes in his second encounter. In the subsequent consolation round, he was then able to decide all the fights for himself and thus secured his first place at the federal level in this age group.

Pia Urban (-48 kg) started in the U17 age group for the first time and immediately knew how to convince. With three wins she fought her way to the semi-finals and only had to admit defeat to the later first place. Pia fought very determinedly for third place and in the end she won the bronze medal. Remus Buddenkotte completed the good Bottrop result with a seventh place.


In Holzwickede, Florian Böcker (-60 kg) showed once again that he is one of the national leaders. As a young fighter in this age group, he only lost in the final against Marek Zimmermann from Homburg. Ronja Buddenkotte (-70 kg) finished fifth, and Eugen Müller (-60 kg) finished seventh.


“It was a very tough season for some athletes. Many have been at a competition almost every weekend for months, many training camps and strenuous day courses are behind them. Some of you noticed that too, ”commented Bottrop’s Bundesliga coach Markus Wallerich.
