Japanese skating team startled by ten corona cases: ‘It is very sour’

The Japanese skating team is about to participate in the international circuit again, but the team of national coach Johan de Wit has been affected by several corona cases in preparation.

Four Japanese skaters and six staff members have tested positive in Inzell. It concerns Nana Takagi (Olympic champion in the mass start and team pursuit), Ryosuke Tsuchiya and Riku Tsuchiya, says De Wit in Along the Line And Surroundings.

“In the team of Nao Kodaira, another team, a girl has also been tested positive,” said the Japanese head coach. “She was in a different place, we didn’t have much contact with that.”

This week, De Wit prepared with the Japanese team on the German ice rink for the start of the World Cup, next weekend in Tomaszów, Poland. The tests were conducted late last week.
