Leverkusen. In the TSV environment, it’s no secret that Jacques Schneider is a very busy coach. Born in Bonn, he is not only the head coach of the Leverkusen NBBL and assistant coach at GIANTS in the ProA, but also a participant in the easycredit-BBL’s trainer training.

The training is comparable to a dual course of study. Schneider works as a trainer in the club, which corresponds to practice. In theory, the A-license trainer attends classroom courses at the BBL. In the summer of 2021, Jacques was in Berlin, where he received a lot of input from various speakers. Furthermore, a kind of “mentor” is available for every coach in training. In the case of our co-trainer, this is Sebastian Gleim, who is currently the trainer of the HAKRO Crailsheim Merlins in the Bundesliga: “Sebastian is available to me with any questions,” explains Schneider. “He visited me during training in Leverkusen and gave me feedback afterwards. I get suggestions as to what I can improve or what is already going very well. “

The 29-year-old is hoping for a lot from the time-consuming training: “First and foremost, I want to get better in various areas of basketball. I want to expand my knowledge and my personal network in Germany. The training helps immensely, here I get an insight into the various game philosophies of the coaches. I really enjoy the BBL program, I am constantly learning new things. “

In terms of sport, Schneider cannot complain in 2021/22 anyway. With the GIANTS, the “workaholic” is on a playoff place, with the NBBL Jacques was able to achieve three wins from four season games. Schneider describes the start of the season for his U19s positively: “I am extremely satisfied with our results. The whole team worked hard and achieved a lot for this success. As before, our goal is to make it to the final round of the German championship. If we continue to perform as we did in the past few weeks, I am quite confident that we will succeed in this project. “

So it’s going to work for Jacques Schneider in the 2021/22 season – not only on, but also off the parquet.
