The new one opens its doors sports house from Settimo Torinese. The brand new “Pala200“was inaugurated yesterday, Tuesday 16 November in the presence of the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò, of the Olympic champion Fabio Basile, gold medal at the Rio Olympics, of the mayor Elena Plate and the commissioner Daniele Volpatto and the President of the Region Alberto Cirio.

Designed to be a multipurpose space, the building is eco-sustainable, modern and ready to host national and international events, as well as hosting local sports associations and more.

Who will host

In addition to judo, it will also be used by volleyball, basketball, 5-a-side football, rhythmic gymnastics, martial arts. It will be able to accommodate 1100 seats for a total of 1450 square meters of play area.

But not only. There are also three gyms for fitness and physical activities, a spa, a fully equipped conference room, a restaurant with kitchen and a medical center.

Why Pala200?

The name was not chosen at random. In fact, the Pala200 pays homage to a prestigious milestone: the 200th Olympic gold medal of Italian sport was won by Fabio Basile in 2016.

After the ribbon was cut, it was the turn of a friendly volleyball match between the under-19 women’s national team and Volley Parella and the women’s soccer match Borgonuovo Settimo – Academy Rosta.

It is a good time for the city – said Mayor Piastra -, with the Pala200 we finally open the new, large and welcoming home of sport in Settimo. We are finally inaugurating a space where major events, not only sporting ones, of national and international level can be hosted “.

Then he adds: “A plant that we would like to be opened and participated in, a new metropolitan centrality in an area of ​​the city in strong development. The name Pala200 wants to celebrate all the sportsmen of Italy and in particular of Settimo without distinction of discipline, gender, skill, level and talent“.

A long journey ends today, which saw the old and the current council at work – dice Daniele Volpatto, councilor for sport -. For the city but also for the entire metropolitan area, the sports hall represents an opportunity for development and important promotion for various sports disciplines.“.

Giovanni Malagò who congratulated the Municipality of Settimo: “I have seen many systems: this is essential, elegant and multifunctional. Coni is proud of a house of this type where many associations will find their place “.

The building cost 6.2 million euros, 5.7 of which were allocated by the CIPE right after Basile’s undertaking.
