From last Sunday, October 31 to November 4, a special edition of the Araucanía National Games will be played. In this case, our province will host volleyball in both branches in the U19 segment.

he competitions are taking place in three different sports venues. The two selected Fuegians play in the gymnasium of the Colegio Polivalente de Arte, while the other selectives do so in the gymnasium “Ana Giró” and in the gymnasium “Architect Lucio Petrina”.
The actions began last Sunday, at the Ana Giró gym, where the presentation of the different teams from Tierra del Fuego took place and from then on the Games began in the different Patagonian venues. In Río Gallegos, capital of Santa Cruz, swimming competitions are disputed. Chubut has two venues and two sports disciplines; In Madryn, men’s and women’s basketball is played, while in Rawson, soccer is played in both branches. Rio Negro has two disciplines: judo and cycling in the city of Viedma. And in Neuquén athletics develops.
The province of La Pampa, because it is the host of the next EPADE and ParaEPADE Games -from December 5 to 10-, will not host this first edition of the National Games of Araucanía.
Good news came immediately from the city of Neuquén. The first was a brilliant day for the Fuegian athletes. Monday began with everything, since the Fuegian athlete Felipe Isoba got the silver medal in the high jump event, with a record of 1.92 meters. In addition, the Fuegian athlete Luciana Ferreyra took the podium in the long jump event, finishing in third place and thus obtaining the bronze medal, with a record of 5,040 meters in her best jump. Also Maria Selene Sakuray finished in fifth place.
In other Fuegian presentations, Facundo Lungwitz finished 9th in the 400 meter dash, while, in the shot put, Santiago Coz was 6th and Lucas Merlo finished in 7th place.
Finally, among the girls, Abril Bazán was 7th in the discus throwing competition (1kg), while Del Lujan Soria finished in 10th place. For her part, Ester Calderón finished in 8th place in the 1500 meter event.
The female handball team from Tierra del Fuego had its official debut in a historic day for the discipline and for Patagonian sport. The Fuegians faced the powerful team of Neuquén, and in a difficult match from the beginning, they fell with a wide result (45-25). For their part, the men also faced the Neuquén team and, in an entertaining and physically intense match, the boys left the Province of Tierra del Fuego very well despite falling by only two goals difference, by 32-30.
The debut of the Fuegian national team of swimming was positive despite not achieving great results on the first day with the first tests in the swimming pool of the Hispano-American club in Río Gallegos. Mia Oyarzo finished in fourth place in the 50-meter butterfly event, while, among men in the same style, Joaquín López finished sixth and Máximo Llamedo finished eighth.
For his part, Máximo Llamedo himself was very close to the podium in the 100-meter freestyle test and stayed in fourth place.
Finally, in the team competition, the men from Tierra del Fuego achieved an important fourth place in the 4 x 100 combined post.
