Zlatan Ibrahimovic proves his worth for Milan again

Turning 40 doesn’t stop Zlatan Ibrahimovic from making his mark on Serie A. The Swedish striker was ubiquitous against Roma for an hour and that was translated on the scoreboard.

Ibrahimovic opened the score by shooting a free kick low into the corner despite a Roma man on the ground. It was his 150th goal in Serie A and his 400th league goal.

First, his beautifully finished 2-0 was rejected by the VAR for narrow offside, but just before the hour the ball went on the spot for a mistake on Zlatan. Kessie converted the penalty: 0-2.

Milan was in charge and looked set to win until Theo Hernandez received his second yellow card minutes after replacing Ibrahimovic. Roma pushed Milan back. In extra time that resulted in the 1-2 of El Shaarawy (ex-Milan), but that was it.

Roma still had 2 penalty claims in the final, but the ref did not respond to Mourinho’s horror. It is Mourinho’s first home defeat as Roma coach. Milan thus records its tenth victory in Serie A and remains in the lead together with Napoli.
