Hughes and Conners make their mark in Georgia

Canadian golfers Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Conners took to the top of the RSM Classic standings Thursday in Georgia.

Hughes moved into second in the competition, due to a 63 (-9) first round, while Conners shared sixth, after hitting the white object 62 (-8) times. The two men started their respective tournaments on different courses at Sea Island Golf Club. Hughes started the event on the Plantation, where par is 72, while Conners started his on Seaside, where par is 70.

Hughes thus wedged eight birdies, an eagle and a boguey, while his compatriot achieved a clear round of eight birdies, including six in a row, between the fifth and the 10th pennant.

For the second round, golfers will tee off on the course they did not do in the first round.

Colombian Sebastian Munoz took the lead after the first 18 holes. He won this place thanks to a performance punctuated by eight birdies and an eagle.

Besides, Hughes and Conners, six other representatives of the Maple Leaf take part in the tournament. Adam Hadwin (Plantation) and Michael Gligic (Seaside) are not far behind, with a score of -5. David Hearn and Taylor Pendrith, who started on the Plantation, share 55th place with more than 20 other golfers, with a score of -4. For his part, Roger Sloan cut three shots at par 70 from the Seaside course. Finally, Adam Svensson posted a score of -1 after his exit on the Plantation course.

An impressive 135 golfers, out of the 155 still in contention, took at least one normal strike.
