“Have contact!” Is Granit Xhaka returning to the Bundesliga?

Granit Xhaka is still very close to his ex-club Borussia Mönchengladbach. Neither side ruled out a return.

Although midfielder Granit Xhaka did not extend his contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2024, a return to the Bundesliga at Borussia Mönchengladbach does not seem to be ruled out.

“I’ve just renewed my contract, which will go on for another two and a half years. Then I’ll be 32. And if Max Eberl is ready to take me back at 32, my door will be open too,” said Xhaka recently in the ‘MitGeredet.’ Podcast .

Max Eberl open to Xhaka return to Gladbach

And Gladbach manager Max Eberl is open to a return. “Granit had a great time here at Borussia Mönchengladbach. We are very pleased that he has a very close relationship with the club and the region. We still have irregular contact. He has already hinted at this several times,” he said.

On the other hand, Eberl made it unmistakably clear that the 29-year-old is currently not an option. “Granit told me his salary in London. I told him that he should play at Arsenal for a few more years and then we could talk more.”

Nevertheless, it is “a nice story and always nice when players say that. When he’s really 32 years old, talk to him again.”

Xhaka played for the foals for four years from 2012 to 2016 before moving to the Premier League at Arsenal for around 45 million euros.
