Gutiérrez, flagged in the Junior Pan American Games

The Catamarca Julián Gutiérrez (shooting), together with Luciana Cardozo (sailing), will be the flag bearer of the Argentine delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Junior Pan American Games to be held this Thursday 25 at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium, in Cali (Colombia ).

The Colombian cities of Cali and Valle del Cauca will host the competition from December 25 to December 5, which will bring together 3,500 athletes between the ages of 14 and 22, from the 41 nations that make up Panam Sports.

The Argentine delegation will be made up of 390 athletes who will participate in the following sports disciplines: athletics, badminton, handball, 3×3 basketball, baseball, boxing, speed boating, BMX racing cycling, mountain biking, track cycling, road cycling, fencing, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, judo, karate, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, figure swimming, figure skating, speed skating, modern pentathlon, skateboarding, softball, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery , sports shooting, triathlon, sailing, indoor volleyball and beach volleyball.

In addition to Gutiérrez, Catamarca will have three other athletes in the Games: Mikaela Rojas in Judo; Juan Manuel La Serna in Tennis and Victoria Malena Luna Avellaneda in Tire.

“The purpose of the Junior Pan American Games is to promote new generations of athletes from all over the American continent, as well as to make new talents visible and support the development of the sport in the junior categories through their participation in high-profile events,” they highlighted from the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA).

It should be noted that women’s handball will open the competitions two days before the official opening. Today, the Argentine team led by Martin Duhau will have its debut against Mexico and on Wednesday the 24th it will face Colombia.
