Giants fire offensive coordinator Jason Garrett

The Giants are shaping up to their fifth straight season with a losing mark (in 2021 they have a balance of 3-7 and need to finish the year with six wins in seven days to avoid another negative record) and changes in the coaching staff have started.

This Tuesday the club New York reported that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has been fired. The news was originally announced by Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

Garrett’s departure from MetLife Stadium after just a year and a half in the organization comes one day from the Giants’ loss at Tampa Bay by score of 30-10. During the engagement, the “G-Men” were limited to 215 offensive yards and three ball exchanges.

“We have to do a better job to score points”, explained head coach Joe Judge after the disaster in Florida. “We have to work better to put our players in position to make plays. We have a lot of talented players.”

Another factor that accelerated Garrett’s departure after only 27 encounters in the “Big Apple” it was the Giants’ growing multi-player discontent towards the offensive coordinator, as reported NJ Advance Media.

Mediocrity in East Rutherford

By 2021 the Giants saw a small improvement. After 11 days the offense ranks 23rd in the league (322.8 yards per game), but his running attack is the eighth least productive with just 929 yards ─ despite the presence of Saquon Barkley in the backfield.
