Georgia defeat Sweden, Germany defeat Liechtenstein in PK qualifiers

In the World Cup qualifiers on Thursday, Georgia beat Sweden and Germany won for the sixth time in a row. Georgia defeated Sweden with 2: 0 (0: 0), which previously took second place in Group B. Hvich Quarahalia scored both goals for Georgia.

In the second game of the group, Spain won a minimal advantage over Greece with 1: 0 (1: 0), the only goal in the 26th minute of the game was scored by Pablo Sarabiam. The victory won for Spain kept the first place in Group B, but Sweden is in second place, which is only one point behind. The match between the two teams will be decisive on Sunday.

Germany continue to play convincingly in Group J, beating Liechtenstein 9: 0 (4: 0). Lyrei Sane and Thomas Miller scored two goals for Germany. Germany currently leads Group J with 24 points in nine games, while Northern Macedonia has won 15 points in nine games.

In Group H, Russia defeated Cyprus 6: 0 (1: 0), winning for the fifth time in a row. Alexander Jerohin scored two goals for the winners. The victory allowed Russia to return to the leading position in Group H, but Croatia, which defeated Malta 7: 1 (4: 1) on Thursday, is only two points behind. Lovro Majers scored two goals in Croatia’s victory over Malta. In Group A, the draw between Portugal and Ireland ended in a draw with 0: 0 (0: 0), but that was enough for Portugal to return to the group’s leading position.

In the European area, the samples are divided into ten subgroups, five by five and five by six. Ten group winners will qualify for the World Cup final, and ten second-place winners and the two best UEFA Nations teams in the sub-groups will be out of the top two.

In the elimination tournament, 12 teams will be divided into three “play-off” branches, where in March 2022 three more participants of the final tournament will be determined. The final of the 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar, and due to the hot weather, the tournament will be played in the winter from November 21 to December 18. In 2022, Qatar will host the final World Cup final with 32 teams. The 2026 tournament, hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, will feature 48 national teams.
