That was a different kind of fan song!
During the Dynamo win against Düsseldorf (1-0), the Fortuna fans gave a clear message on vaccination. In the Rudolf Harbig Stadium, the Düsseldorf supporters resounded from the block: “Saxony, get vaccinated!”
Due to the 2G rule, the stadium was only moderately filled with only 8,912 spectators. Nevertheless, it was an unmistakable appeal that addressed a sensitive issue in Saxony.
The Free State has the lowest vaccination rate nationwide – only 57.6 percent are fully vaccinated – and with 960.7 the highest 7-day incidence of all federal states (as of November 22, 9.45 a.m.). As of today, a strict lockdown has been in effect in the state, which massively restricts large parts of public life – and also affects sport.
Non-professional sport is prohibited for vaccinated and convalescent as well as unvaccinated people. The home games of Aue and Dresden must first take place in front of empty stands as ghost games.
But maybe the vaccination advice from the Düsseldorf fans will have an effect …
