It represents excellent news for the organizers and fans just when the Catalan track is 30 years old.
The circuit of Catalonia will continue to host MotoGP and Formula 1 events after the renewal agreement for another five years, until 2026, with the organizers of both competitions.
“The new agreement guarantees the Catalan track a place in the 2022 calendar and confirms a minimum of two more events to be held between 2023 and 2026,” announced Dorna, organizer of the MotoGP World Championship, this Friday in a statement.
In 2022, the Grand Prix of Catalonia is scheduled between June 3 and 5 and from 2023 the circuit will alternate “with other venues on the Iberian Peninsula, with a minimum of two more races confirmed at this venue between 2023 and 2026 ».
“This renewal of the contract with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is, without a doubt, fantastic news for MotoGP,” said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, quoted in the statement. “This important agreement that extends the relationship until 2026 demonstrates, once again, the commitment shown by the promoter with our championship,” added Ezpeleta.
For the Minister of Business and Labor and president of the Circuit of Catalonia, Roger Torrent, the agreement “is great news for the fans of our country.”
