Football Talk. Boyata suspended for three matches – Fines for Beerschot and Mechelen after a loaded duel | Football

Dedryck Boyata (Hertha) gets suspension of 3 games

Hertha captain Dedryck Boyata has been given a three-day suspension by the control committee of the German Football Association (DFB). The Red Devil was sent off on Friday in the 76th minute during the 2-0 defeat of the team from Berlin against Hoffenheim on the tenth day of the Bundesliga. Boyata was shown a red card for a tackle on the ankle of midfielder Angelo Stiller, who had to leave the field. He would therefore have to miss the games against Bayer Leverkusen, Union Berlin and Augsburg. However, his club can still appeal the decision. Hertha is in twelfth place in the Bundesliga.

Fines of 2,500 euros for Beerschot and Mechelen after a loaded duel

The Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) has imposed fines of 2,500 euros on Beerschot and KV Mechelen, because supporters misbehaved in the loaded game at the Kiel.

Since the fierce promotion battle a few seasons ago in 1B and the settlement of the disciplinary procedure regarding ‘Clean Hands’, supporters of Beerschot and KV Mechelen have been facing each other with drawn knives. That fiery atmosphere was also noticeable in the competition match between the two clubs on October 17 (0-1).

Beerschot supporters threw pyrotechnic material and two purple smoke bombs onto the field after Mrabti’s goal. Referee Lothar D’hondt then stopped the match for a few minutes. Before that, the Mechelen fans had already used pyrotechnic agents. And also on the stroke of half-time a heavy firecracker was fired. Five Mechelen supporters suffered hearing damage as a result.

For Beerschot, the fine is increased to 3,000 euros, because an outstanding conditional fine of 500 euros (dating from 12 October) was also executed. “The use of pyrotechnic material has no place on a football field and should absolutely be banned. This pyrotechnic material can compromise the physical integrity (hearing damage, burns) of other supporters, players, coaching staff and referees,” the verdict reads.
