Two months later, Andi Zeqiri is back in the Swiss team. Last month, the Vaudois discovered his new Augsburg club and missed the October rally. Murat Yakin had preferred Albian Ajeti and Cedric Itten to him. This time, these two were not invited to the training camp which started on Monday in Lugano. Zeqiri, on the other hand, is very present, he who has a series of matches in the Bundesliga, with already two goals and one assist since the start of the season.
You weren’t there in October, how do you feel about this comeback?
I am very happy to come back to the Swiss team. Last month, I took this time for myself, to work in order to be efficient. Of course, we always want to be selected. But I knew how to focus on myself to perform well in the club.
How is it going in Augsburg? You play a lot, that must change you.
It goes well. I am gently starting to play regularly. Obviously, I always want to be in the field on weekends. I always stay positive, focusing on what needs to be corrected in order to do more.
What does it mean to play in the Bundesliga?
Football is probably the best fit for me. Even if the club situation is not easy (editor’s note: currently 16e Bundesliga) right now. But the intensity, the contacts, the fact that everyone is giving 200% allows me to measure myself at the high level.

After your absence in October, were you afraid of not coming back to the Swiss team?
No, I was not afraid. I always stayed focused on my job, and now I’m here. Especially since I knew that by choosing Augsburg, it was to play there, with a coach who trusted me. It allows me to be back.
With all of these absences, you might have a bigger role than you expected.
You always have to be ready. It concerns the whole team, and therefore I include myself in it. But that doesn’t put any particular pressure on me. You have to be ready no matter what, even if it is true that there are huge absences. But it’s up to us to give everything.
