A 70-year-old from Reggio was denounced by the carabinieri who threatened some boys with a gun and a club. The man was exasperated by the explosion of firecrackers in his garden on Halloween Saturday. He then went down to the street armed with a gun and then headed towards a group of young people, apparently unrelated to the firecrackers. The boys, afraid of what had happened, went away to avoid unpleasant problems or consequences. The 70-year-old later returned home, but dropped again soon after with an aluminum bat that he knocked to the ground threatening the boys. The alarm was therefore raised to the carabinieri who were informed of the incident. The soldiers of the Casalgrande station were mobilized.
The serious episode occurred on Saturday night around 11.30pm. The 70-year-old, at the end of the investigations, was subsequently reported to the Public Prosecutor of the court of Reggio, on charges of aggravated threat and illegal carrying of objects capable of offending. The carabinieri also seized the aluminum baseball bat and obviously the gun (photo), which later turned out to be soft-air. The military also ascertained that the man had left the house with a gun in his hand to head towards a group of boys because they were held responsible for having previously detonated firecrackers in the courtyard of his house. The boys, apparently unrelated to the harassing conduct towards the 70-year-old, moved away and for a short distance were followed by the 70-year-old who is now in trouble for his attitude. The man also threatened the boys with a bat by uttering a disturbing sentence: “Come here – the 70-year-old would have said – I’ll split your head in two”. The intervention of the Casalgrande carabinieri was certainly fundamental, as they quickly identified the person responsible for the serious action. Many people in recent days, on the occasion of the Halloween party, have used firecrackers in many countries of our province: fortunately no other similar episodes have been recorded such as the one reported to the Casalgrande carabinieri.
