Fabrián Elí bets on a new way of making the National Superior Basketball known

Arecibo – Businessman Fabrián Elí has assumed the management as representative of the Captains of Arecibo in the same way that urban music has: betting on young people and social networks, investing to bring technology and making risky moves from players who have come to receive criticism from the public.

These efforts have paid off in several ways, such as being able to attract young people to the games of that franchise and create a nucleus of players who have led the team to its 12th final since 2005. It has also earned him the award as the “Trustee of the year”, which the National Superior Basketball (BSN) awarded him on Monday.

This new form of management was defined by Elí as a new stage of the Arecibo team and national basketball in general.

“This is a new stage. I think the boys in Santurce (with the artist Bad Bunny, Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda), Yadier (Molina) in Bayamón, in Carolina they did a great job. I think there is a new stage in which we are tapping it, a few different things to what was done before with social networks, marketing … Trying to impact youth and children”Elí said in an interview with the media during Monday’s game between his Capitanes and the Cariduros de Fajardo.

In that game, the Capitanes pochanated their ticket to the final series by defeating the Cariduros de Fajardo by a score of 91-81.

Elí added that he wants the youngest to have the same experience he had with basketball growing up admiring national figures such as José “Piculín” Ortiz, Eddie Casiano and Carlos Arroyo.

“That is what we want, for the new generation to grow up with BSN being a passion and a lifestyle.”

The also violonist sees the results he has obtained, including the recognition of the BSN as a validation of his work and gives credibility to him and the reggaeton genre.

“This helps to give us a little bit of credibility and shows that we can do things well done”, he pointed out.

Eli said that the award for the best manager that he received at the hands of the league means a lot to him because he grew up admiring businessmen such as Angelo Medina, who was the manager of the Santurce Cangrejeros and who received this same recognition in 2015, or Luis Monrouzeau , which was in charge of Arecibo from 2007 until last season and was also distinguished with this award in 2014.

“It means a lot because I did not work for it during the season, but I tried to give the maximum and the knowledge that I have acquired through the years with music and with the production of events. Trying to add that to the structure that this franchise had. It has been an incredible year. A dream come true ”, he articulated.

“I always saw Angelo Medina, Luis Monrouzeau and all those businessmen who had teams for so many years, and I admired their work. That today they can recognize my work is an honor “.

He reiterated that he did not expect recognition and accepted that “Excited a lot” and he gave “much feeling”.

Eli was the architect behind the move to bring in players like guard Víctor Liz, who came from the Ponce Lions; guard / forward Jonathan Rodríguez, who comes from the Cariduros de Fajardo; the setter Javier González, who was from the Guayama Brujos. He was also the architect of hiring the Mexican reinforcement Gustavo Ayón.

“I can feel proud of this, of taking risks. Because every change is a risk and there is nothing for sure, and that the boys have come and have done a good job fills me with pride”, Elí stipulated, for whom obtaining the championship is the final goal.

The rag’s manager Anuel AA, with whom he bought the equipment and who was also recognized in that proxy award, acknowledged that the fans’ displays of affection have exceeded his expectations. In fact, he said that what he has experienced “has been better than I expected.”
