Eventful night in the NBA for the stars: Curry scores no less than 50 points, vicious beating from MVP Jokic loosens the tongues | Sport

NBASpectacular in the NBA. Stephen Curry has helped Golden State Warriors to a ninth win in ten games. The 33-year-old American scored no less than 50 points against the Atlanta Hawks (127-113). Curry also provided ten assists. Nikola Jokic, last year’s MVP, demanded attention with a much less attractive action.

It was Curry’s tenth 50-point game of his NBA career. He is also the first player to complete that cape this season. In recent weeks, Curry has again reached the very high level with which he became NBA MVP in 2015 and 2016. Jordan Poole (16 pts) and Andrew Wiggins (13 pts) also came in good numbers in his shadow. Trae Young’s 28 points could not save Atlanta from another defeat.

With nine wins and only one defeat, Curry and co are at the top of the western division. The Warriors are the best performing side this season so far.

In the East, league-leader Philadelphia 76ers suffered their third loss of the season. Without star player Joel Embiid, who has tested positive for the corona virus, the Sixers lost 103-96 to New York Knicks. The team from Philadelphia remains on eight wins. Six clubs, including the Knicks, follow with seven victories.

Beech of Jokic

Chicago Bulls defeated Brooklyn Nets 118-95. Both clubs belong to the list of pursuers of the Sixers. Miami Heat went down 113-96 at Denver Nuggets, where Nikola Jokic fell out of his role for a while.

The Serb wanted to send a pass in the fourth quarter, but took a big bodycheck by Markieff Morris. An unnecessary charge, as Jokic clearly thought. He took revenge with a vicious beating in the back of Morris, who had to receive care and afterwards could get off the parquet himself.

Jokic — good for 25 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists — also explained it afterwards. “Obviously I feel bad about that move,” said the Serbian giant, who was excluded and risks a suspension. “I shouldn’t react like that.”

During the match, Morris’s teammates — Jimmy Butler in the lead — already went to tell Jokic. The dolls started dancing. And the action also stirs up tongues on Twitter, including at Marcus Morris. Markieff’s brother plays for the LA Clippers himself. “He waited for my brother to turn his back on him…NOTICED,” writes Marcus Morris, who had already had an altercation with Jokic in 2019 (see video below).

Finally, the LA Lakers needed extra time to distance themselves from Charlotte. It was 126-123. The Lakers, still without star player LeBron James, could count on Russell Westbrook, who was good for a ‘triple-double’: 17 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assists. LaMelo Ball, the young star of the Hornets, did even better with 25 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists.
