EUROPEAN MIXED TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: NO PODIUM FOR OUR BLUES | French Judo Federation

This Saturday, November 27, the European Mixed Team Championship was held in Ufa, Russia. Led in particular by Clémence EME (-70kg) vice-champion of France and Amadou MEITE (+ 90kg) bronze medalist in Perpignan, this rejuvenated French team failed to create a surprise.

The French judo team returns to France with probably a little disappointment but above all with a lot of experience gained. Composed of Martha FAWAZ (-57 kg), Mickaël DUBOIS (-73kg), Clémence EME (-70 kg), Eniel CAROLY (-90 kg), Stessie BASTAREAUD (+70 kg) and Amadou MEITÉ (+90 kg) this young team proudly defended our colors.

Our judokas first managed to get rid of the Bulgarian team (4-3). Led after the defeat of Eniel Caroly, our French then came back to score with an express victory by Stessie BASTAREAUD against Irina ZHELEZARSKA, then by Martha FAWAZ compensating for the point lost by Amadou MEITÉ. Despite the defeat of Mickaël DUBOIS, Clémence EME was able to win to offer a decisive fight to our team of France. And it is Amadou MEITE who played the heroes to win and take his revenge against Ivaylo DIMITROV offering the qualification to our Blues.

But it is unfortunately against a solid team from Georgia that our judokas then fell, losing by the score of 4 to 2. Stessie BASTAREAUD had nevertheless launched our Blues perfectly by winning his first fight. But only Clémence EME managed to do as well. Opposed to Austria in a repechage fight, our judokas lost by the same score, Eniel CAROLY and Martha FAWAZ winning the two points on the French side.

So a difficult day for our France team but which should be of great use to them for the future.
