Eintracht Frankfurt plans to reintroduce a second team | hessenschau.de

Eintracht Frankfurt wants to send a second team to the start again in the future. The SC Hessen Dreieich and Rot-Weiß Frankfurt could play a central role in this. The plans also affect the Bundesliga soccer players.

In spring 2014, Eintracht Frankfurt, under the then CEO Heribert Bruchhagen, decided to de-register the U23s. This saved around one million euros annually, and the criticism of this decision in the community was and is huge. All attempts to reintroduce it since then have come to nothing, but now sports director Markus Krösche has apparently achieved the big breakthrough.

That is the plan of unity

The new mind games provide for a deal with fifth division Hessen Dreieich. It says in the room that Eintracht rents or even buys the entire sports grounds of SC Hessen including the stadium and builds a new second team there – either a U21 or U23. According to information from hr-sport, the women’s Bundesliga team should also move to Dreieich and train there and play their home games.

Within the club it still has to be clarified whether the reserve team is operated under the umbrella of the eV or the AG. According to HR information, an application to the Hessian Football Association has not yet been submitted. The first on Tuesday had the new plans Frankfurter Rundschau reported.

In contrast to his predecessor Fredi Bobic, Markus Krösche was more open-minded, which is why the talks that were initiated in summer 2020 became more concrete. A major reason for this could have been the personality of Fabio Blanco. The Spaniard did not leave the U19 of Valencia CF to play with Eintracht in the A youth division. In a regional or Hessen league, on the other hand, the only 17-year-old winger could be better promoted and challenged.

Eintracht wants to start at least in the Hessenliga

Dreieich sponsor Hans Nolte has been a regular guest at the Riederwald in the east of the city of Frankfurt for the past few weeks, he drove the negotiations forward. Eintracht could at least start in the Hessenliga, Dreieich may even be promoted to the regional league. A restart in a league below the Hessenliga is out of the question for Eintracht.

Games in the seventh class group league or the sixth class association league do not help the Hessians any further. Instead, the leap into the fourth division should be achieved as quickly as possible. The infrastructure for this would also be given in Dreieich.

Merger between Hessen Dreieich and RW Frankfurt?

However, this plan, which has not yet been finally negotiated and thought through to the end, may still fail, as apparently a lot depends on a third party. The question is whether a desired merger between the club division SG Rot-Weiß Frankfurt and Hessen Dreieich can come about. This is a basic requirement for Eintracht to be able to take over the Dreieich starting right.

Under what name would the merged club appear in the future? Which players are still allowed to stay? What will happen to the youth teams? And how do the members of the traditional Frankfurt club vote? Are you actually taking such a step? If not: According to HR information, Eintracht should have more ideas in the drawer.

Nolte reached limits at Dreieich

At Dreieich, sponsor Nolte wanted to achieve great things, but all plans went wrong – not least because of the corona crisis. In April 2020, the re-establishment of the “International Soccer Club Rhein-Main”, announced only weeks earlier, for which young professionals from abroad were to play in Dreieich and the Hessenliga, was done again.

The idea of being able to be set up as the Eintracht farm team was quickly discarded. With the exception of a public training session in July 2017, not much happened. With the resignation of the Eintracht idols Rudi Bommer, Charly Körbel and Ralf Weber, Hessen Dreieich disappeared from the public eye again.

Eintracht could now help Nolte

Nolte’s visions could never be fully implemented. The manager of the airline Hahn Air has invested a lot of time and money. Should Eintracht rent or even buy the system, at least part of the investment would be back in the sponsor’s wallet.
