Patricia started evenly, showing the 14th time (+30 seconds) to the 1.8 km mark, but rising to position 11 (+1: 01) at the end of the first lap, or the 4.7 km mark. In the final 5 km, Latvia’s leading skier fought for the top ten with Swede Līna Korsgrēna.
Although the Swede managed to overtake the Swede by a second on the 6.8k m mark, in the end the Latvian, who met several times in the thirties at the World Cup, showed the 11th time (+1: 55.8). In the second distance, Patricia lost a little less to the leader than in the first. For the first time, Eiduk Carlson lost less than two minutes at the start of the 10 km classic. The leader of the Polish team Monika Skindere finished half a minute behind the skier from Vecbebri, but also Izabella Marciša a little further.
The top three were the Swedish and World Championship medalists from Sweden, followed by Eba Anderson and Charlotte Kalla in second and third place.
In the junior competition, Edijs Eiduks, in the 15km distance, entered the classics among the top ten among 38 participants, winning 9th place and losing less than three minutes to the winner from Canada. Indulis Bikše, who was one minute faster than junior Eiduks, showed the 73rd result (+4: 14.7) in the men’s 15 km 94 participants. Leo Joachnson from Sweden defeated the men, seven seconds ahead of multiple Olympic champion Dario Colonia (Switzerland).
The juniors, yesterday’s sprint finalist and 6th place winner Samanta Krampe, did not make it to the top ten again in the 10km classic. At the beginning, the representative of SS “Arkadia” was in the sixth, in the middle it was still the eighth, but in the end it took the 17th place (+3: 42).
