Danilo Carrera, president of the Ecuadorian tennis club, wants to leave a legacy just as he did in the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee and Odebo.

The Ecuadorian Tennis Federation and the company Betcris made the presentation of an alliance to promote the Programa Junior Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, which looks for players with the potential to help them in their sporting development, guaranteeing them a minimum number of international competitions, technical and medical evaluation camps, among other aspects.

As detailed by the FET, this is one of the projects that the president of the entity has been working on, Danilo Carrera, next to the directory and that is just crystallizing.

For the FET, this agreement is one of the legacies that Carrera wants to leave in Ecuadorian tennis, just as it did at the time in the sports organizations that it presided over as the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) and Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odebo).

The event was attended by directors of the multinational as Gabriel Nunez Del Arco, Betcris director for Latin America; Joseph Lynch, commercial director of Betcris; also attended by glories of Ecuadorian tennis such as Miguel Olvera, Nicolas Lapentti, Julio Cesar Campozano, and players participating in the Ecuadorian Tennis Circuit.

The structure of the project includes five phases:

  1. Selection of applicants
  2. National Program for the evaluation of tennis players of the FET
  3. Junior Davis Cup / BJK Cup team concentration
  4. Specific support for events, South American Tour – ITF Junior
  5. Monitoring and control

The FET will summon 48 players (24 men and 24 women, from the categories 14, 16 and 18 years old) to participate in the technical evaluations, which serve for the selection process of the junior Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams. The main coach of each player is also invited to the evaluation sessions. Players’ parents will be invited to two talks lectures during the development of technical evaluations. A medical record will be made of each player, in charge of the Department of Sports Sciences of the FET.

After the evaluations, will make the selection of the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup teams, to later concentrate the players in the National Tennis Center of the FET in days of technical, tactical, psychological and physical preparation.

These players would participate in a selective for a spot on the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams. The winners will participate in the South American Tour By COSAT and ITF Junior, which will take place in January and February next year.

This same process will be repeated in the middle of the year for the tournaments of the South American Tour COSAT and ITF in September. Airfare costs will be covered by the FET. (D)
