It was a hard-fought game for the last semi-final ticket, which Sakkari and Sabalenka delivered. In the first round Sabalenka served for the set, but gave up her service for the second time, so that Sakkari took the lead after exactly one hour and a sovereign tie-break. In the second set, the Belarusian again worked out two ways to end the round with her own service, in the tenth game she even gave two set balls before Sakkari came back again. But this time Sabalenka was not discouraged by the missed chances and used her fourth opportunity to equalize the set in the tie-break.
