Colts – Buccaneers (31-38): Leonard Fournette eclipses Jonathan Taylor

Indianapolis Colts (6-6) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3) : 31-38

End of the game in Indianapolis!

At 31-31, the Buccaneers and Tom Brady (25/34, 226 yards, 1TD, 1INT) recovers the leather with three minutes to play. A situation that the Buccaneers quarterback knows too well to miss his chance.

With passes and races, the visitors go up the whole field and register what seems to be the touchdown of victory (31-38 with 20 seconds from the end) on a 28-yard run of a Leonard Fournette (17 races , 100 yards, 3TD; 7 receptions, 31 yards, 1TD) in Olympic form tonight.

But on the kickoff, the Buccaneers special team makes a hole and lets the Colts returner go up 72 yards! With 10 seconds to play and 38 yards for the touchdown, Indianapolis tries 2 assists: the first to get closer but Jack Doyle (6 receptions, 81 yards, 1TD) is blocked by Lavonte David. The second sees Carson Wentz (27/44, 306 yards, 3TD, 2 INT) running out of juice in his shot and being intercepted by Pierre Desir just in front of the endzone.

The Colts came close to bringing down the defending champions despite a Jonathan Taylor (16 races, 83 yards, 1TD) more secret than in recent weeks.

There is no point running…

First half to the two faces on the side of Indianapolis. The first quarter is that of the defenses with squads that completely muzzle the opposing attacks. On the first 8 series there are 5 3rd & out, two induced fumbles (one on each side) and a field goal for Indianapolis (3-0).

On the other hand, the second quarter saw the attacks take precedence over their opponents. It is first the Buccaneers who strike after a turnover caused by their defense. Starting from the 34 opposing yards, Leonard Fournette ended up registering the first touchdown of the match (3-7) but not without difficulty after all 8 actions to gain this thirty yards.

The premises respond immediately through their aerial game and Carson Wentz who sends a bomb deep for a reception-touchdown 62 yards from Ashton Dulin (10-7).

The Colts accentuate their advantage when their defense manages to intercept Tom Brady who was trying to play the depth. Behind, the successful attack the best offensive series of the match by going up 90 yards in 6 minutes and 9 actions conclude with a reception of Jack Doyle in the endzone (17-7).

The match then looks more and more like a boxing match where the opponents go blow for blow. Indeed, Tampa Bay responds in turn with 84 yards that Brady concludes by finding Fournette for the touchdown (17-14) 2 minutes from the end.

Enough time for the Colts to play their luck and add a touchdown by TY Hilton 18 seconds before halftime (24-14). A touchdown which symbolizes the dynamic in which the Colts have been for 1 month since it arrives on a 4 & 1 attempted on the 4 yards of Tampa Bay.

The Colts therefore lead by 10 points at halftime with only 25 yards on the ground gained by Jonathan Taylor!

… We must leave on time

While Indy advances very well and is at the gates of the red zone after a big series of passes from Wentz, the quarterback loses the ball under the pressure of Shaq Barrett. An offering that the attack does not let pass with a new touchdown in the race for Fournette (24-21).

Bis repeated on the next drive when the Colts quarterback was intercepted this time by Antoine Winfield. Starting from their 35 yards, it only takes a few actions for the Buccaneers to add a touchdown (24-28), passing for the first time in front of the score since the start of the second quarter.

The Colts definitely seem to sink when they see Hines lose the ball on the Tampa Bay punt. But the defense of the premises cuts down a huge defensive birch and maintains hope by limiting Tampa to a simple field goal (24-31) despite a drive beginning on the opposing 10 yards.

A hope that Jonathan Taylor amplifies on the following series. Unused until then, the runner leaves an XXL drive by being used on the 10 actions (8 races and 2 receptions) which he concludes with a touchdown after 6 minutes of possession (31-31).

The problem for the Colts is that with three minutes to play and Tom Brady in front, the mission promises to be complicated. The veteran quarterback actually advances his own and can count on Fournette to drive the point home with his 4th touchdown of the evening (31-38).

Behind a kick-off return will give the locals some hope, but the miracle will not happen because of a Ave Maria missed by Wentz.
