Akane Yamaguchi is widely called an Indonesian badminton fan similar to Marcus Fernaldi Gideon’s son. What was the response of the Japanese women’s singles player?

Akane Yamaguchi is the current best Japanese women’s singles badminton player. He is ranked third in the world, only behind Tai Tzu Ying (Taipei) and Chen Yu Fei (China).

Yamaguchi is currently in Bali to take part in the Indonesia Badminton Festival which will be held from November 16 to December 5, 2021.

The 24-year-old player has made sure to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2021 after overcoming Kim Gaeun from Korea, Thursday (11/18/2021) morning in a three-game battle.

Yamaguchi’s presence in Bali has made Indonesian badminton fans excited. Especially when he finally met Junior, the son of Indonesian men’s doubles badminton Marcus Fernaldi Gideon.

Indonesian badminton fans refer to Yamaguchi as Junior’s older brother, or who is often called Uniol. Because the two are considered very similar. This was even acknowledged by Marcus’ wife, Dr. Agnes Amelinda Mulyadi.

“Doesn’t it look like, doesn’t it?” wrote Dr Agnes on his Instagram.

Yamaguchi himself is happy to meet Junior. Moreover, it gave him the opportunity to get to know Marcus more closely.

“Hmmm… I’m glad, because from this I have the opportunity to get closer to outside athletes, especially big athletes like Marcus. Well… I’m happy,” said the quiet athlete briefly.
