Xavi Simons may return after this season at FC Barcelona. The midfielder, who is currently under contract with Paris Saint Germain, will soon be available on a free transfer.
Eighteen-year-old Simons with the characteristic lush head of hair already has a whole football life behind him. He was in the youth academy of Barcelona, but exchanged that club for PSG a few years ago. The Dutchman is not satisfied there either and so he has not yet extended his contract until mid-2022.
That is grist to the mill of Barcelona, which would like to get him back. Xavi Hernández, the new coach of the Catalans, according to SER string have already approved the transfer. Mino Raiola, Simons’ agent, is said to have briefly mentioned the name of his Dutch client during conversations about Erling Haaland.
This season Simons only came to 360 official minutes in the first team in Paris, where he does train with the first team. From January 1, there can be official negotiations with the midfielder about a transfer-free move back to Camp Nou.
