BG Göttingen in good company: 2G now nationwide in the Bundesliga

The 18 clubs in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) are based in nine federal states. In view of the increasing incidences nationwide and the achievement of warning levels, the states are also gradually adapting the Corona regulations. “Each club will continue to implement what the country says. There will be no uniform regulation on the part of the BBL ”, says BG managing director Frank Meinertshagen, who is also a member of the BBL presidium, when asked by the daily newspaper.

The sporting events are not criticized in the discussion of superspreader events. Evaluations of the health authorities in Germany, which were derived from the system of the Luca app, see most of the warnings – according to an anonymized evaluation for October – for visitors to clubs (49.1 percent) and bars (23.2). The areas of sporting events (0.8) and swimming pools (0.6) did not turn out to be corona hotspots.

All basketball Bundesliga locations have now adopted the 2-G rule. Bavaria has taken the toughest measures, where in Munich, Bayreuth, Bamberg and Würzburg, an FFP2 mask must be worn on the squares in addition to the relevant evidence (vaccinated / recovered). In addition, the refreshment stands will remain closed during the break.

In Baden-Württemberg – i.e. in Ulm, Heidelberg, Ludwigsburg and Crailsheim – masks are also required in the entire arena. Masks in the waiting area must be worn in Hamburg, up to the seat in Chemnitz (Saxony), Berlin and Bonn (North Rhine-Westphalia). At the MBC in Weißenfels (Saxony-Anhalt), in Gießen and Frankfurt (Hesse) as well as in the three Lower Saxony locations of Göttingen, Oldenburg and Braunschweig there is (still) no mask requirement.

“Of course, we are discussing internally about wearing a mask in the hall, but for the game against FC Bayern at the weekend we will leave everything as it was last arranged. Also because we sold the tickets under the previously applicable regulations, ”says Meinertshagen. Against FC Bayern Munich, more than 3000 spectators are expected in the Sparkassen-Arena on Sunday for the first time this season.

There have already been a few inquiries from viewers as to whether the BG Göttingen would not want to introduce the 2-G-Plus regulation, reports the managing director. “At the moment I don’t see that Göttingen can do 3,000 tests for such a home game. The test capacities are not there for that. ”However, Meinertshagen could imagine that the 2-G-Plus rule will come. “But then the resources also have to be made available.” Given the number of spectators, it is not enough for the club to organize a test opportunity in front of the hall.

After the cup and international break and only one home game for the BG in November, Veilchen fans can look forward to two duels in the Sparkassen-Arena in December: The Syntainics MBC will be a guest on Saturday, December 11th, at 8.30 p.m. A week later, the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim come to ex-violet Elias Lasisi, Tipoff is on Saturday, December 18th, at 6 p.m. Advance ticket sales for the two pre-Christmas games will start on Thursday, November 18, at 12 noon. Tickets are available from the Tageblatt branches in Göttingen (Wiesenstrasse 1) and Duderstadt (Marktstrasse 9) as well as in the online ticket shop (bggoettingen.de).
