Bertasio remains in the lead. Matthieu Pavon tied for 2nd

Despite the wind and complicated flag positions, Italy’s Nino Bertasio retains control of the Portugal Masters. At -12, however, he is only two points ahead of a quartet of pursuers including Matthieu Pavon (photo), sparkling with a 64 (-7). Six French people cross the cut.

On another planet Thursday with a 61 (-10) without the slightest error on the score card, Nino Bertasio was much less bright this Friday on par 71 of the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura. Starting from tee n ° 10, the 33-year-old Italian was thus content with a 69 (-2) and conceded his first bogey of the week (at 15).

The wind much more present in the Algarve today and oh so vicious flag positions have thus spiced up this second round of the Portugal Masters. However, this did not prevent Matthieu pavon to offer a masterful game, posting a superb 64 (-7) studded with eight birdies for only one bogey.

The Bordelais, 68 (-3) at the opening, gained eight places on the leaderboard. At -10 (132), he is only two points behind Bertasio, in good company with the Belgian Thomas Pieters (also 64), Danish Lucas Bjerregaard (65) and the Spanish Adri Arnaus (67). The member of the Team St-Laurent also gained 24 places in the Road, virtually pointing in 75th position.

« I played really solid today, he comments at the end of the recording. I got a bit in trouble at the very beginning of my game on faceoffs but without the slightest seriousness. I quickly took advantage of good opportunities to quickly get a few birdies (at holes 1 and 2). It gave me confidence for the rest of the day. »

Hébert comes out of the top 10

At the foot of the podium Thursday evening (4th), Benjamin Hébert, who is struggling to keep his playing rights in 2022, could not do better than a 69. He fell de facto eight ranks and at the same time came out of the top 10 (12th to -6). Halfway through, he appears in 124th place in the Race while only the first 122 will keep their card next year. Nothing is therefore yet certain for the Briviste, even if there are still two laps to negotiate this weekend.

69 also for Alexander Levy. Le Varois, caddeyé by Andrea Ginola, the son of David Ginola, the former Paris-SG footballer in particular, is 24th at -4 (138) and concedes a place to the Race (57th). Remember that only the first 50 will be invited in a fortnight to the DP World Tour Championship, the final of the Race 2021 of European tour.

Three other French cross the cut set in par. Romain Langasque and Antoine Rozner occupy 30th place at -3, just ahead Victor perez, 37th at -2. The former resident of the world top 50 made no mistake today with a solid 67 (-4). It’s especially his first cut after three consecutive failures!
