BADMINTON: Amiens can’t do it

L’Amiens University Club Badminton received this Saturday Boulogne-sur-Mer within the framework of the third day of the National 3 championship. The meeting ended in a defeat of the Amiens with a final score of 8-0.

The Amiénoise team is still at a standstill in this championship. Contrary to previous days, the players of Amiens UC have for much, made good starts of matches, which they had often missed to better compete during the first meetings of the season. This Saturday, it’s quite another thing, a different face of meeting, facing Boulonnais who were able to react and adapt to each of the matches where they found themselves in difficulty. Back on the thread of this day.

A promising start to the meeting

The meeting was relatively well under way for the Samarians. Like Carole Gandolfi, promoted to team 1 to make up for a few absences, which made a very good start to the match by taking the first set 21-18 against Emilie Harmel. This was not enough, the Boulonnaise reacts, adapts better to the game of her opponent and then wins 11-21 / 11-21.
On the side of the simple man 1, Yvon Crepelle is opposed to Florent Wasselin. If the first took the advantage at the end of the 20-18 set, it was without counting on the success of the Pas-de-Calaisien who took the gang twice and took the advantage at 23-21. The second set has the same physiognomy, but reversed. The Boulonnais took the lead, and the Amiens captain returned to the game at the end of the set. Unfortunately, without materializing. Loss in two short sets 21-23 / 20-22
In doubles men, Maxime Maj and Kilian Marzin (also promoted to team 1 for this day) have a lot to face Crépin / Dieu, a strong pair. The score will be final, the AUCists lose 14-21 / 11-21.
As a single lady 1, it is Doriane Liard who goes charcoal in the face of Weronika Gorniak. A difficult match for the Samaran, in fact, the Boulogne player of Polish origin is very diligent, and shows a very clean game. The Amiens bowed 4-21 / 10-21, without regret, with good exchanges during this opposition.

The frustration is still there!

In ladies’ doubles, Charlotte Peters is also making her National 3 debut, alongside Carole Gandolfi. Authors of a very good first set, the Amiens just cracked and let slip the first round 17-21. In the second, the Boulonnaises Desmaretz/Harmel make the difference, the AUCistes pair found fewer solutions and bowed 09-21.
As a simple man 2, Kilian Marzin has absolutely nothing to lose, and it shows! The Amiens make a perfect first set! Applied, success and concentration, the cocktail is complete. He grants himself the first round 22-20 in front of Bastien Conan, which still displays 3 rankings higher than him. And then, it is the disillusion, the ardor of the young Amiens will perhaps have got the better of him since he does not succeed any more in the 2nd and 3rd sets, losing 08-21 / 08-21.

Carole Gandolfi, promoted to National 3 for this day, gave everything in single lady 2 and double women, but that was not enough.

The two mixed doubles to conclude

See you now 6-0 for Boulogne-sur-Mer, the meeting is decided in advance. The fact remains that there remains the will in the Amiens camp not to take the bubble, just like with the Boulonnais to make a faultless to garner an offensive bonus.

The first mixed sees the captain Yvon Crepelle associated to Doriane Liard. A first round quickly conceded by the Amiens pair on the score of 10-21. In the second set, it’s something else, more exchanges and solutions, but the visitors take more options and win 21-17.

The last match of this meeting sees the Samarians Maxime Maj and Charlotte Peters confronted with Crépin / Desmaretz. A very good start to the match, the Amiens take the lead at the break, 11-10. And then, the Boulonnais burst was not long in coming, they gave only a small point to the Samarians in this second part of the set and pocketed this round 21-12. In the second set, frustration, many faults on the side of the Amiens pair, but they show more consistency in their game. Despite everything, they lose 21-16.

History seems to repeat itself, the Amiens chained a second defeat after their victory on the green carpet. A very heavy score on this meeting, without the team being completely defeated. Whether in terms of scores, matches themselves, the team always defends itself, and shows that it is not there to make up the figures, the players still give the best of themselves in despite their position of outsider or significant differences in rankings.

The AUC Badminton pennant team remains 4th in the hen, 1 small point from the place of relegation. The AUCists now have an appointment in Normandy, they will travel on December 11 to Grand-Quevilly.

Final score: Amiens UC – Boulogne-sur-Mer: 0 – 8
