ATP world rankings: Alexander Zverev with top placement – Rafael Nadal falls

It took Alexander Zverev more than two years to climb back into the top three of the tennis world rankings. It was not enough for the title at the Masters in Paris – Daniil Medvedev was too strong in the semifinals – but the German number one improved by one rank.
The reason for this was, among other things, the injury-related abandonment of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 32. As a result, both Zverev and the Greek are at 6540 points. Since the German scored more points overall in the major tournaments (Grand Slams, Masters and ATP World Tour Finals), he pushed past Tsitsipas.

Andrey Rublev (5th), who was eliminated in Paris in the second round, and whiz kid Hubert Hurkacz (9th, semi-finals) also improved one place. At the beginning of the year, the Pole was still in 35th place. Top talent Jannik Sinner, on the other hand, lost one position and is tenth after making the top ten for the first time the week before.

Federer continues to fall – Koepfer on 54

The Austrian Dominic Thiem lost two places and is now in 14th place, the Swiss Roger Federer, who was last active on the tour at Wimbledon, fell from 14 to 16. Federer’s compatriot Stan Wawrinka is now only in 83rd place, Andy Murray ( Great Britain) is currently only 143rd in the world rankings.

The Frenchman Hugo Gaston made the biggest jump in the Top 100 from 103 to 67 after reaching the quarter-finals in Paris.

The other Germans in the top 100 roughly held their position from the previous week: Jan-Lennard Struff is 50th (50th), Dominik Koepfer 54th (58th) and Peter Gojowczyk is listed as 85th (84th).

The starting field for the ATP World Tour Finals in Turin is set

After the Masters in Paris, the field of players who were able to qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals in Turin has now been determined.

The top eight of the year are Djokovic, Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Rublev, Matteo Berrettini, Hurkacz and Casper Ruud in descending order.

Sinner and Cameron Norrie are the first to replace them. Félix Auger-Aliassime has mathematically no more chance of cracking the top ten in the “Race to Turin” after his second round in Paris against Dominik Koepfer.
