ASEC ensures, Algeria and the DRC in the hard

The first framing round was on the program this Sunday in the Confederation Cup. After the first results of the day, ASEC Mimosas, transferred from the Champions League, kept its rank and took a good option on qualifying in the group stage by disposing 2-0 at home of the Angolans of GD Interclube thanks to a double from the Ivorian international Karim Konaté.

Stade Malien also won 1-0 at home against the Libyans of Al Ahly Tripoli thanks to Aly Sissoko. Semi-finalist of the previous edition, Coton Sport was satisfied with a draw in Mauritania on the ground of Nouadhibou (0-0), while the Orlando Pirates carried out the good operation in Liberia against LPRC Oiler (2-0 ).

Imbroglio around Al Ittihad – Enyimba

More difficulties than expected on the other hand for the Algerians. After JS Kabylie, beaten 1-0 in Eswatini by Royal Leopards, the other representative, JS Saoura, got into trouble by falling 2-0 in Ghana on Hearts of OAK. Results barely brighter for the DR Congo despite the victory of TP Mazembe at home against Marumo Gallants (1-0). Maniema Union put themselves in danger by losing 1-0 at home to Pyramids FC, while DC Motema Pembe fell from the top losing 2-0 in Niger against the National Gendarmerie.

Finally, note that the Al Ittihad (Libya) –Enyimba (Nigeria) match did not take place. This was to take place in Tunisia but the local authorities refused to allow the Nigerian delegation to enter their territory because of Covid-19. The African Football Confederation (CAF) has proposed that the double confrontation take place in a single set and in Morocco, but the Libyans refuse and claim victory on the green carpet. An urgent matter to be settled for CAF because the return matches, which will show the 16 qualified for the group stage, are on the program from next Sunday …
