Yamaha Pata Racers, Toprak Razgatlioglu, became a sensation in Indonesia after the success of winning the world title WSBK 2021 from Mandalika Circuit, Sunday (21/11). The following is an exclusive CNNIndonesia.com interview with Toprak.
Toprak successfully ended Jonathan Rea’s six-year dominance in the Superbike world championship. The Turkish racer confirmed the 2021 WSBK world title at the 2021 WSBK Mandalika race, last weekend.
Toprak’s success made the 25-year-old racer create a lot of new history. Starting from the first Muslim racer and the first Turkish to become WSBK world champion, Toprak has also helped Yamaha end the drought of world titles in Superbike, which was last felt through Ben Spies in 2009.
Toprak’s actions on and off the track made motorcycle racing lovers in Indonesia immediately attracted. Then what does the 2021 WSBK world title mean for Toprak, and how does Toprak see fans in Indonesia?

What does the 2021 WSBK world title mean to you?
This is my dream, which is to one day celebrate victory, I will say this [juara WSBK 2021] for you my father. Thank God I was able to do it today. Thank God I’m happy. For all the races, we worked hard, and this year there were several podiums we achieved. This title is also for Turkey who have never won before, and now, today, we are champions.
What’s on your mind when you cross the finish line, I see you praying on a motorbike?
I’m not praying, just thinking the season is finally over. I don’t like praying outside because everyone can see it, I prefer praying indoors when no one is looking, because things like this are not good for showing. This is not a prayer movement, I’m just happy that the victory has been achieved.
