Adam Yates has found a way to combine his vacation time and sports activity before starting the cycling preseason. The Briton from Ineos, in addition to enjoying the beach, has had time to run the Barcelona marathon with a more than respectable time, since it fell below three hours in the test that was held last Sunday. “I was at the beach for a couple of weeks and it was not the best preparation, but I am happy with the time of 2 hours, 58 minutes and 44 seconds that I did,” Yates wrote through a post he made on his Instagram account.

It is not usual for an active professional cyclist to embark on a competition as demanding as a marathon, but Yates already has experience because he did the same in Liverpool long ago, although with a much more modest mark. In Barcelona, the Briton from Ineos rolled at 4.11 per kilometer, which reflects the good physical condition maintained by one of the most outstanding climbers in the international peloton.

Adam, 29, has won the Volta a Catalunya this season and was fourth in the Vuelta a España, after doing a great job for Egan Bernal. Fully integrated into the Ineos structure, the Briton will now park his athletic shoes to focus on the preseason of his training, where he will coincide with a new signing such as Omar Fraile from Biscay.
