7 Unique Facts about Toprak, the WSBK World Champion in Mandalika

Toprak Razgatlioglu that ensured the world title WSBK 2021 at the Mandalika Circuit has a unique record. Here are seven unique facts about Toprak.

Without the need to appear as a champion in two races in WSBK Mandalika, Toprak has locked the world title.

The Turkish racer was enough to ensure that the championship title fell into his hands after being runner-up in race 1. Razgatlioglu won the title that was held by Jonathan Rea from 2015 to 2020.

Razgatlioglu scored a total of 564 points after finishing second and fourth in two races at WSBK Mandalika.

The 25-year-old racer has only been competing in the WSBK arena for four years. After finishing ninth in 2018, Razgatlioglu then finished fifth and fourth in the final standings of the 2019 and 2020 racing seasons.

Now Toprak recorded gold ink in a racing career that was pioneered since the age of eight.

Here are 7 unique facts about Toprak who became the WSBK world champion at the Mandalika Circuit:

1. Toprak studied with Kenan Sofuglu who is currently his manager. Sofuglu is a five-time World Supersport champion. The number 54 used by Toprak was also the number used by Sofuglu.

2. Toprak is the first WSBK champion from Turkey. Sofuglu, who became Toprak’s mentor, had appeared in WSBK but was not as successful as his students.

Sofuglu suggested Toprak compete in the FIM Europe Superstock 1000 racing event with the target of making him the WSBK champion.

Despite only being ranked fifth in the FIM Superstock 1000 in 2016, Toprak managed to become the WSBK world champion five years later.

3. Toprak’s helmet has the initials TTA which stands for his name, Tumay’s brother and Arif’s late father.

TTA is also an abbreviation of Tek Taker Arif which means Arif the whellie trick, the nickname of his father who is a motorcycle acrobatic activist.

4. Not only has the blood of acrobats from his father, Toprak also learns special tricks. One of the things he often practices is the stoppie, which is when he stops the motorcycle with the rear tire lifted.

5. Toprak has the nickname ‘El Turco’. The name emerged from a Toprak fan when he raced in San Juan, Argentina.

6. Toprak has a hobby of extreme sports such as jet skiing, fliteboarding, and snowboarding. Besides that, Toprak also often shows off his abilities handstand and walk with your hands.

7. Toprak shares the same birthday as his teammate in the Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK team, Andrea Locatelli. Both were born on October 16, 1996.
