Zverev beats Aliassime at ATP Vienna

The German tennis player overcame a difficult compromise in the Austrian tournament. Zverev needed three sets to finish winning against an opponent who left a version (6-4, 3-6, 6-3). `Sascha´ is already in the semifinals and will face Alcaraz who continues to break records.

The second quarter-final match at ATP Vienna faced the young man Aliassim against Zverev. `Sascha´ came from getting 300 ATP victories after beating De Miñaur in their second meeting at the Austrian tournament. On the other side was Aliassime who had beaten Handless and Norrie, the reigning Masters 1000 Indian Wells champion. Both had met on five occasions and in four the victory went to the German, although the last one at Wimbledon 2021 the victory fell to the Canadian.

Zverev heading to the semi-finals

The first sleeve did not have many alternatives. Zverev came out calmer and determined for the game. In the third game he was already 0-40. He did not miss this great opportunity and got a break that gave him an advantage on the scoreboard. From that moment the services were imposed and it is that both were very successful with both their first and their second serves. In this way the first set fell for the German 6-3.

Zverev, on the other hand, in the second set was always behind. Before De Miñaur we already saw that the pressure in the decisive moments affected him negatively. Aliassime put up with the guy and was always the one who had the initiative in the locker. This earned him to reach the eighth game with 4-3 in his favor. It was then that The Canadian found himself with a 30-40 and then blank to certify that he was going to the third set.

The German was again the one who with his serve could start adding first. He began suffering and it is that he did not see himself so comfortable, as a result of the fatigue and demands of the game. Zverev took the games without leaving any alternative to his rival. The key to the game came in the sixth game. After a very long game with up to six break balls, finally at the last ‘Sascha’ he roared after certifying the break. In addition, after winning his blank service, he put the 5-2 and remained on the verge of victory. The German did not close the game to the rest, but he did with his serve to qualify for the semifinals after a difficult match against an opponent who always showed his best version.
