Yuri Ferretti and Andrea Giani Contini seventh at the Judo Kata World Championship

The Judo Kata World Championship took place in Lisbon on Wednesday 27 October, with the young Cussino Yuri Ferretti competing among the 200 athletes from 25 different nations to represent the colors of Italy and the black and white colors of our city.

Yuri Ferretti paired with the Florentine Andrea Giani Contini participated in the category of kime no kata (form of decision), a predefined execution where the perfection of the technical movement is sought.
The two Tuscans finished in seventh place, with 498.5 points, demonstrating once again their great technical qualities that have always kept them in the top positions at European and world level for over two years, in fact after the world championship of Seoul 2019 in which they returned to the top 10, in July of this year they won the European championship in Warsaw.

By only two points they failed to overtake the Spanish pair to enter the final, so as to compete for the most precious metal. A special thanks goes to Vismederi for making the trip possible, a leading company in the field of research in the field of life sciences for the improvement of public health, always very close to the needs of the city and the world of sport, which offered the his contribution for the participation of the young Sienese Yuri Ferretti in the World Championship.

This great result will certainly give the right energy and motivation to the Ferretti-Giani Contini couple who in just a month will play another important competition, the Italian Judo Kata Championship in Pordenone in the company of two other Sienese couples: Luca Cavecchia and Omar Pasquinuzzi in the kime no kata and Riccardo Pinto together with Samuel Picciafuochi in the Kodokan Goshin jutsu.
