Word Judo Day 2021: Solidarity in Times of the Pandemic

Word Judo Day takes place annually on October 28th. In times of a persistent pandemic, solidarity plays an important role. This year, therefore, all actions and events on the topic of “solidarity” should take place.

The entire world population has been suffering from the corona pandemic and its serious consequences for months. One bad news follows the next. For a few weeks now, however, “light can be seen at the end of the tunnel”.

Despite the difficulties, despite all the strokes of fate, the judo family has never been so united to master a life test together. The Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo have impressively demonstrated this – solidarity, friendship and respect as important virtues of togetherness.

As if this pandemic catastrophe wasn’t enough, the world has faced more humanitarian and destructive crises. Difficult times have to be mastered around the world. But there are also many reasons to hope and dream. The solidarity that has developed between people is remarkable. You help each other and share the hope for a better future.

  • It is precisely this feeling, this attitude to life that the sport of judo would like to emphasize and promote in 2021. Therefore, the World Judo Day motto this year is “Solidarity”.

The participation of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and many national associations in projects such as Judo for Peace, Judo for Refugees, Judo for Children, Judo for All illustrates once again the idea of a worldwide judo family. With the concept of solidarity, we associate altruism, generosity and charity. We can achieve a lot together.
