Werder Bremen loses against Darmstadt 98

Dhe SV Darmstadt 98 was successful against his former coach Markus Anfang and SV Werder Bremen. With a 3-0 (1-0) victory, the “lilies” made a big leap towards the top ranks. Luca Pfeiffer scored two goals (65th minute, 71st), before Fabian Holland (45th) had taken the lilies in the lead in the stadium at Böllenfalltor, which was sold out with 13,000 spectators. For the Darmstadt team it was the second win in a row after the 6-1 win before the international break at SV Sandhausen.

Bremen’s head coach beginning was greeted with loud whistles before the game and had to endure insults during the game after leaving the South Hesse in June after just one year despite an ongoing contract.

In an intense game with even proportions of the game, scoring chances remained in short supply for a long time. Immediately before the break, full-back Holland hit with a remarkable shot from distance into the right corner, after the ball had initially been cleared from the penalty area.

After half-time, Bremen became stronger and had substitute Romano Schmid to equalize, but his shot in the penalty area was directed over the crossbar by goalkeeper Marcel Schschuhe. Midfielder Nicolai Rapp then blackouted himself and played a back pass into Pfeiffer’s foot, who was able to insert. Six minutes later, after a free kick from an acute angle, he made the final score.
