Wage dispute in Brandenburg: Verdi union announces wave of strikes at Asklepios clinics – Berlin

In the ongoing wage dispute for the employees of the Asklepios clinics in Brandenburg, the Verdi union has announced further waves of strikes. A decision will be made in the middle of the week, said union secretary Ralf Franke on Monday when asked. Strikes are not continuous in order to secure local medical care.

On Wednesday, the six-day strike of up to 150 employees at the three locations in Brandenburg an der Havel, Teupitz and Lübben ends at the end of the night shift. “The employers now have time to submit new offers,” said Franke. A central strike demonstration and rally in Lübben (Dahme-Spreewald) has been announced for Tuesday.

The last round of negotiations so far took place on June 22nd. In a ballot at the beginning of October, almost 91 percent of the union members entitled to vote spoke out in favor of an indefinite strike.

The approximately 1450 Brandenburg employees want to use the labor dispute to ensure that they earn as much as their colleagues at the Group’s Hamburg locations. So far it has been up to 10,600 euros less per year.

According to the employers’ last suggestion, depending on the occupational group, higher salaries of up to 16 percent within the two-year period were provided. The union contradicts this representation. According to their calculations, this would only correspond to a salary increase of between 4.1 and 8.5 percent. In addition, there would be a one-time corona special payment of 1200 euros, for which there should be no tariff increase for a year. (dpa)
