Union fans experience chaos in Rotterdam – Apparently clashes with officials

BDuring the away game of 1. FC Union Berlin in the Europa Conference League at Feyenoord Rotterdam, there were chaotic scenes at the entrance to the guest block. Hundreds of Union fans who had traveled with them complained in front of the gates of the De Kuip stadium in the Netherlands not only of extremely long waiting times, but also of excessively harsh police operations and allegedly arbitrary arrests.

The supporters reported clashes with the officers on social media. Accordingly, there were several injured people, some of whom had to be treated in hospital.

“We know about the difficult situation in front of the guest block. We are with several people on site and are trying to find a solution, ”tweeted the Bundesliga club during the first half. A reason for the problems was not initially given.

On the day before the encounter, there was a physical attack by Rotterdam fans on a Berlin delegation.

A group of around 25 people around Union President Dirk Zingler wanted to end the evening in a bar not far from the team hotel on Wednesday when a larger group attacked and threw tables and chairs at them. One person was arrested, one person was hospitalized, it said. Feyenoord apologized for the nasty attacks and promised to clarify the situation.
