two qualified Italians. Mauro Nespoli among the favorites in the recurvo – OA Sport

Archived the first World Championships of the new Olympic cycle, Yankton (South Dakota) is preparing to host the Finals of the 2021 Outdoor Archery World Cup. Between Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th September the last act of the international outdoor season will be staged.

A total of 32 athletes invited to the grand final in Yankton (based on the results of the three stages of the 2021 World Cup and the Olympics), distributed equally in the male and female recurve, male and female compound categories. Italy will be represented by two athletes: Mauro Nespoli and Federico Pagnoni.

The first will be on stage in the Olympic arc table thanks to the points collected between Lausanne (5th) and Paris (7th), but a stellar performance will be needed to improve the 2nd place obtained in the last edition of the Finals in Moscow in 2019. The vice-Olympic champion will have among his most formidable opponents the American host Brady Ellison (2019 world gold medal and reigning world bronze) and the young Turkish phenomenon Mete Gazoz (reigning Olympic champion).

Difficult but not impossible podium goal in the compound for Pagnoni, qualified thanks to second place in Lausanne and fifth place in Paris. The blue will have to deal primarily with the Dutch champion Mike Schloesser (already twice winner of the event), in addition to the fierce American hosts Braden Gellenthien and Kris Schaff.
