“This election campaign allowed me to get to know extraordinary realities”

«I have been doing judo for 52 years and for me it is much more than a sport: it is a philosophy of life that has taught me that there is never an end to improvement. And this was also our electoral campaign for me: it allowed me to get to know incredible realities and examples of volunteering in the area that would deserve the Nobel Prize “.

Franco Ghiringhelli, second generation textile entrepreneur and candidate with the list Common goal draws a final balance a few hours after the end of the electoral campaign.

“I’m happy because we were able to listen to everyone and starting from this to elaborate a nice program that I hope is passed on to our citizens – Ghiringhelli says -. I am convinced that this listening channel that has opened with the realities of our country will have to remain regardless of how the elections go because dialogue is fundamental ».

In this phase of meeting and confrontation with his electorate, Ghiringhelli has an idea of the priorities to work on if he should become mayor?

The list is very long. We will have to work methodically and understand what a municipal administration can really intervene on. We will have to do a screening that we can do and the resources we really have available. However, I am convinced that once this work is finished, the interventions will have to be planned and worked for five years throughout the mandate, without accumulating at the end of the mandate the operations to make showcase interventions. This is typical of Italian municipalities: twenty days before the elections the asphalting starts again but it doesn’t make sense, we will be different.

Do you already have an idea of the administrative team in case of victory?

Obviously we have an idea if we win. We do not make it public because it will also be verified on the basis of the preferences received by each one. I must say that we worked well, the team is cohesive and worked with commendable commitment.

What do you expect at this point?

We left that everyone was telling us that we had no chance, now it seems that our competitor list does not have one. I am convinced that it will be a heads up. I have no illusions and await the choice of citizens with curiosity. I have seen many positive reactions that I did not even expect, I am very happy and this makes me responsible.

How did the relationship with your political “opponents” go?

Personally, I have the utmost respect for anyone who is committed to the country. However, after the elections I will seek collaboration, the important ideas for the country must be carried forward. If I have to say something I think that perhaps we have been more open and attentive to listening, perhaps they are more set on showing what has been done in the previous administration. But it is our philosophy: to be always and constantly open to dialogue and listening, which of course does not mean saying yes to everyone.
